Il ne s&rsquo;agit toutefois que d&rsquo;une protection passive contre la corrosion. En cas de probl\u00e8me de rev\u00eatement, le processus de corrosion se d\u00e9clenchera malgr\u00e9 tout.  <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C&rsquo;est pourquoi, depuis plus de cent ans, les navires sont prot\u00e9g\u00e9s par des anodes galvaniques en zinc ou en aluminium.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cependant, les navires actuels utilisent une protection cathodique par courant impos\u00e9. Ces syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 courant impos\u00e9 ont une dur\u00e9e de vie beaucoup plus longue, car la consommation de mat\u00e9riau est jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 1 000 fois inf\u00e9rieure avec les anodes d&rsquo;anodes inertes, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement en titane activ\u00e9, sont r\u00e9parties sur les deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la coque du navire. Une plus grande proportion d&rsquo;anodes est mont\u00e9e au niveau de la poupe et de l&rsquo;h\u00e9lice. En effet, l&rsquo;utilisation de diff\u00e9rents m\u00e9taux entra\u00eene une corrosion plus importante de ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 du navire.  <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Le syst\u00e8me \u00e0 courant impos\u00e9 utilise une source de courant externe, un transformateur-redresseur, pour alimenter les anodes. Ce courant continu permet aux anodes de produire un courant continu qui est envoy\u00e9 \u00e0 la paroi, \u00e0 l&rsquo;h\u00e9lice, etc., afin de cr\u00e9er un potentiel de protection. Pour fournir le courant correct, un syst\u00e8me de r\u00e9troaction est utilis\u00e9 au moyen d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrodes de zinc qui ajustent le courant en fonction de la conductivit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique de l&rsquo;eau, de la vitesse du navire, etc.  <\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un syst\u00e8me de protection cathodique \u00e0 bord d&rsquo;un navire peut \u00eatre suivi \u00e0 distance via Internet. Le syst\u00e8me de communication Scotty, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par Anotec, a tout ce qu&rsquo;il faut pour fournir au client les informations correctes sur son syst\u00e8me de protection contre la corrosion. Le module Scotty est le seul syst\u00e8me de communication au monde qui indique, en cas d&rsquo;anomalie, quel composant est en cause&nbsp;: anodes, c\u00e2ble de cathode, \u00e9lectrode de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, redresseur ou alimentation \u00e9lectrique.
